Welcome to the Family Caregiver Support Group at Contemplative Caregiver LLC. This group is for family caregivers who are caring for a loved one and need a supportive community to turn to for guidance, understanding, and comfort. Our therapists understand the unique challenges of being a caregiver, and we offer tools and strategies to help caregivers manage stress, cope with their emotions, and improve their overall wellbeing.
Who is it for?
This group is for anyone who is caring for a loved one, whether it’s a parent, spouse, or other family member. We welcome caregivers of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. You don’t need any prior therapy experience to join the group.
What will we discuss each week?
Each week, we will explore a specific theme related to caregiving, such as managing stress, coping with difficult emotions, and finding balance in your life. The group will be a safe and confidential space for sharing your experiences, challenges, and successes with other caregivers who are going through similar journeys. You will receive guidance and support from our therapists and the other members of the group, and you will leave each session with practical tools and strategies to apply to your caregiving situation.
Session Schedule
The group will meet for two hours per week over four weeks. The sessions will be held via online telehealth, so you can attend from the comfort of your own home. The exact session schedule will be determined based on the availability of the group members.
Sample Session
Here’s an example of what a session in the Family Caregiver Support Group may look like:
The session begins with a brief check-in to give each member an opportunity to share how they are feeling and any updates they may have regarding their caregiving situation. The therapist may also introduce a theme for the session, such as coping with grief and loss or setting boundaries in caregiving relationships.
The group may then engage in a mindfulness exercise, such as a guided meditation or breathing exercise, to help ground and center members in the present moment.
The therapist will then facilitate a discussion around the theme for the session, encouraging group members to share their experiences and insights. The therapist may offer specific coping strategies or interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral techniques or emotion-focused therapy, to help members address any challenges they are facing in their caregiving roles.
Towards the end of the session, the group may engage in a reflective exercise or journaling prompt to help process their thoughts and emotions. The therapist may also provide resources or homework assignments for members to work on between sessions.
